Rainwater Systems Sydney FAQs

What types of rain water systems are there?

There are four types of rain water systems:

  • Direct-pumped (Submersible/Suction)
  • Indirect-pumped
  • Indirect gravity
  • Gravity only

Direct-pumped is the most common and easiest to install; the other three types have architectural requirements to be suitable for your home. Consult one of Rapid Plumbing’s qualified experts to make a decision on the right kind for you.

Is rain water drinkable?

When first harvested, rain water contains many pathogens, making it unsafe for consumption. Through boiling, filtration, and either iodine or chlorine treatment if necessary, rain water can become safe to drink.

Why does collected rain water change colour?

If leaves and other debris get caught in the gutters or filters, they will eventually break down and wash your rain water into a yellow colour. While this does not make your water undrinkable, it may be undesirable. Remember to clean your rain water systems regularly.
